About Mr. Gladfelter
Welcome to Swift Middle School! Currently we have approximately 420 students enrolled in grades six through eight. Our middle school philosophy of teaming provides students the opportunity to succeed in a supportive environment. The members of the teaching staff are dedicated educators who are committed to working with the middle school students and foster academic success.
Middle school students spend most of their day in their academic core team. Core instruction consists of social studies, science, math, reading, and language arts. Additional support is available for math and reading. Tutoring is available afterschool for those students in need of extra support. Teachers on the team share the same students and work with the students so they learn in a meaningful way that increases academic achievement. Team planning time allows teachers to work together to create lessons that show students’ connections between subject matter and techniques to transfer those connections to real-life situations. Teaming not only provides a supportive transition from elementary school, but is also effective in preparing students for their continued education in high school.
In addition to the core subjects, students participate in a Related Arts curriculum that includes physical education, health and wellness, technology education, computer education, art, music, and family and consumer science.
Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities including music and athletics. Swift Middle School also promotes character education by encouraging students and adults to be good people and to exhibit a positive attitude in everything they do. Working hand in hand with this idea, the P.R.I.D.E initiative is a formidable and noticeable focus in our building working to end bullying through awareness and advocacy. Please help us join the cause!
As educators, our goal is to equip your child with the tools they need to succeed: caring teachers, challenging educational experiences and a love of learning, but it will take the combined efforts of both the school and home to succeed in educating a child. Just as we challenge your child daily to work hard and to try their best, I challenge you to remain involved with your child’s middle school education. We encourage all members of the community to join us for scheduled activities and become involved in our PTO. Our middle school PTO meets often to plan and provide activities and resources to benefit our students.
The faculty and staff members of Swift Middle School are an exemplary group of enthusiastic professionals who have dedicated themselves to provide outstanding educational programs and opportunities to meet the needs of the ever-changing student population. They have made a commitment to dedicate their time and expertise to provide every Swift student with the skills needed to face the challenges of the new global environment and I am proud to be part of that commitment.
Thank you for visiting the Swift Middle School’s website. I hope you find the resources available helpful. Please contact us if you have any questions.
