SOLANCO HIGH SCHOOL “Home of the Golden Mules”
Welcome to Solanco High School! Solanco High School has served the community since its construction in 1961, with additions and/or renovations being completed in 1988 and 1997. The site is built on 120.7 acres of land and comprises 236,000 square feet. The student population ranges between 1250-1350 for grades 9-12. The district serves 186 square miles of southern Lancaster County and is composed of one borough and eight townships. The area is predominately rural, although there is a steadily increasing population. The community strongly supports education and values a balance between providing pre-college and vocational opportunities for students. The site contains adequate athletic facilities for all athletic teams that are approved by the PIAA, District III and the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
The high school faculty is fully trained in Learning Focused Strategies and strongly involved in the Classrooms for the Future technology. The State of Pennsylvania has given Solanco over $425,000.00 to vastly improve the use of technology in the classroom and to have students actively involved in the educational experience. We are expecting another significant amount this year to further this initiative.
Solanco has made a dedicated effort to enhance the curriculum and as a result has met or exceeded NCLB expectations and AYP in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. In conjunction with this effort is the establishment of a strong Advanced Placement program that has been reviewed and fully approved by the College Board.
The list of programs, services, clubs and activities is extensive. We encourage each student to be involved in the life of the high school beyond the classroom walls. The Renaissance Program is an active part of the high school. Students earn rewards by improving grades, attendance, and behavior each marking period. This program recognizes the achievements of all students and encourages them to continue the growth and success of the student body.
We are proud of our heritage and are dedicated to the constant improvement and success of our students!
