About Brian Booher
Welcome to the George A. Smith Middle School! Currently we have over 400 students enrolled in grades six through eight. In our middle school academic setting, we use the process of teaming which is used to provide your student with individualized attention and overall challenging academic work. Our dedicated staff is here to make sure all students are progressing toward proficiency and beyond.
Middle school students spend most of their day in their academic core team. Core instruction consists of social studies, science, math, reading, and English. Additional support is available for math and reading. Tutoring is available afterschool for those students in need of extra support. Teachers on the team share the same students and work with the students so they learn to make real-life connections to our curriculum that increases academic achievement. Team planning time is planned every day so each team can work collaboratively together to assist with teaching each and every student. Students will also participate in a Unified Arts curriculum that includes physical education, health and wellness, technology education, computer education, art, music, and family and consumer science.
We also encourage students to participate in co-curricular activities including music and athletics. In addition, we promote a character education program by encouraging students and adults to be good citizens and to exhibit a positive attitude in everything they do. The P.R.I.D.E initiative works collaboratively with a formidable and noticeable focus on ending bullying through awareness and advocacy. As educators, our goal is to provide your child with the strategies they will need to be successful. Are you interested in getting involved? Research states that parental involvement is crucial in the middle school years. With this in mind, our active PTO is always looking for members. Our PTO sponsors many events throughout the academic school year. We would love to have you join our PTO Team!
I look forward to building positive relationships with you and your student(s) around the Solanco Community Initiative (Courage, Respect, Honest, Kindness). Please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of your student(s) grade-level team with your concerns or questions. Sincerely,
