About Paul Gladfelter
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back from what I hope was an enjoyable and relaxing summer. With all the opportunities offered within the Solanco School District, the new school year promises to be an exciting one. Due to Dr. Dangler's transfer to Bart Colerain Elementary School, I was given the opportunity to join both the George A. Smith and Swift Middle School staffs as Assistant Principal. I am very excited to work in these buildings and join staffs that I have already heard and personally know many positive things about.
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to provide you with some background information. I received my Undergraduate Degree in secondary education from Juniata College in 1993. I have since received a Masters Degree in educational leadership along with my Principals Certification from Alvernia College. My teaching career at Solanco started in 1998, when I came to the district as a long-term substitute. At the end of that school year I was offered a contract position to teach social studies at the high school level. I spent nine years in the classroom teaching mainly ninth graders the subject of World Cultures. During my time at Solanco High School, I coached both junior high and varsity football. This past year I accepted a change in position, one that had me move out of the classroom and into more of an administrative role. I worked as Dean Students for the 2007-2008 school year. In this position I was given the responsibility and opportunity to oversee and guide the freshmen and junior classes. While that job was very rewarding, my heart was pulling me to the middle school level.
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you. Thank you for your time and good luck in what I am sure will be a most successful school year.
Sincerely,
Paul Gladfelter Assistant Principal Email: paul_gladfelter@solanco.k12.pa.us
